Gareth:

Gareth, a man of small stature but menacing features prides himself on his accomplishments.  Locked in an
unhappy marriage, surrounded by children he’d never planned to have, he reaches out to his staff as a source of escape, incapable of retaining a friendship save those acquaintances who receive monies for their charities - of
which he will only give if properly recognized.  A self proclaimed Philanthropist, Gareth rules each business he takes
on with an uncompromising sense of self worth. 

Though the vast majority of his businesses fail, often due to his ego, he relies on just one to promote himself as a citizen of the world, a man to whom other men should aspire. This single businesses success fuels Gareth’s wants, and the richer he becomes, the more he spends on self promotion.

An interest in politics, a history of backing crooked politicians and self preservation in the face of an approaching depression compels Gareth to run for office in the city he’d grown up and flourished.

The moment he announces his candidacy hundreds if not thousands of letters and e-mails pour into the papers and magazines and radio stations pleading the population to vote for the other guy. Gareth had made many enemies over the course of his Philanthropy, alienating employees and volunteers alike. Having created a solid base of people that hate him in business, his personal life and charities that could not offer him the recognition he felt he deserved
result in this last devastating act upon his name. The barrage of hate mail, articles and commentaries on his
character force Gareth out of the spotlight, humiliated and broken.

Then, as the missiles fell, Gareth realized his destiny had only just begun.
