Sydney:
18 and a visible minority in his small town, Sidney refuses to leave his mark on his town simply by just looking different. Born
of a black father and white mother, Sid’s complexion is a nice balance of the two. His features pull from both as well, taking on his mother’s slight nose and father’s full lips. His hair is a shock of dark black curls he chose to grow out and have dread-locked to closer resemble his hero, Bob Marley.
Sid has taken advantage of all the opportunities his high school would afford him, travelling as an exchange student to three separate European countries during his career as a student. His love of travel was inspired by his own parents, his father a retired diplomat.
Sidney is an attractive teen who has had more than his share of cheerleader’s vie for his attention, stopping short of Caroline, Johns girlfriend. Sid also studies martial arts, recently testing for his black belt in Karate.
His smile is magnetic and catching, showing off his bright white teeth. It’s hard not to smile back as those around him find his energy absolutely invigorating. He’s the guy you want in your corner, the guy that makes you jealous at times but happier for having him as a friend.
After the Apocalypse Sidney, not recovering quite as fast as some of the others after the realization that their families were all dead and gone, longed to escape the present. The drugs and the alcohol pilfered from town offered that escape, but Sidney understood the dangers of addiction and rather combated the stresses of the day to day by practicing his karate.
Sidney's deep sadness upon killing a young girl in defense of their house led to his sudden retreat and in doing so prompted the capture and banishment of the flag army. In Rebirth Sidney finds himself pairing with one of the girls and choosing Sara's camp rather than following Earl in his blood lust to destroy the flag's once and for all.
